The Ultimate Guide to Logo Design part 1

Look around you. Every day, we see hundreds of logos—on our phones, our shoes, and our favorite food packaging. Some logos stick in our minds forever, while others are forgotten instantly.

Have you ever wondered why?

A great logo isn’t just a random pretty picture. It is a carefully designed tool that tells a story without using many words. Whether you are starting a new business or just curious about design, this guide will break down how logos work using simple, everyday language.

The 7 Types of Logos when to use

1. The Wordmark

2. Lettermarks (Monogram Logos)

3. The Pictorial Mark

4.The Abstract Logo Mark

5. The Mascot

6.The Combination Mark

7.The Emblem

1. The Wordmark

A Wordmark is a logo that focuses entirely on the company’s name. There are no symbols, icons,

or graphic pictures. The design comes completely from how the letters are styled (the font).

Because the focus is purely on the text, companies use custom fonts or unique spacing to

make their name stand out

Famous Examples: Google, Coca-Cola, Visa, NASA, Subway.

Why it works: It is excellent for brand recognition. Because your

logo is your name, people learn your company's name every single

time they look at your logo.

When to use it :

 • If your business has a short, catchy, or unique name.

 • If you are a new business and want people to memorize your name quickly.

The Golden Rule: Because there is no picture to hide behind, the typography

must be perfect. It needs to be incredibly easy to read whether it is printed on a

massive billboard or a tiny smartphone screen.
